BO NINGEN

BO NINGEN PLAY RED GALLERY WITH A SHOWING OF THE INFAMOUS HAIR ANIMATION BY TIM NOBLE AND SUE WEBSTER IN A SPECIAL PERFORMANCE DURING FRIEZE WEEK IN A RECREATION OF YOKO ONOS MELTDOWN 2013 AND FIRST CONCEIVED AT THE VENICE BIENNALE 2011.

Sue Webster speaking of the collaboration says “I first saw Bo Ningen by accident at the Shoreditch 1-2-3-4 festival back in 2010. I had never seen anything like it – four Japanese gentlemen with hair down to their knees who played guitars with their teeth, naturally I was mesmerised.”
“After interviewing them for the music paper BEAT, I spent the next few weeks plucking long black hairs from the back of my sofa…this induced Tim and I to make ‘hair portraits’ of each member of the band, which metamorphised itself perfectly into the idea of creating an animation made entirely from their HAIR”.
Bo Ningen say of their work and artistic collaboration “ Crossing the borders, lines that had been drawn by someone else to confine specific ideas within the made up territories, is to draw your own line across, around or above these pre-conceptualized territories. That is what we have been trying to do and still working on it. To draw something other than interaction between sound and visuals in a live show. I do not know what that is, so there is some experimentation needed. Working with people like Tim Noble and Sue Webster helps us finding new language on this subject. We talk but in many different ways and forms using various medium like, say, visuals and sound.”

“The collaboration with Sue Webster is something really special to us, we carefully choose the right timing and right event to evolve it. We did our first performance together at Venice Biennale 2011 and second one at Yoko Ono’s meltdown. Both events were not only about art and music but also something beyond. We all feel that Inside Out Underground is perfect opportunity and now is the time to do it again.

EYESHADOWS

‘New Indie darlings of the all-new art scene’
EYESHADOWS are a London duo formed in 2012. Vocalist Mark Rodenhurst and producer and DJ Y.O.T.I fuse video art, costume and performance to create a unique audio-visual experience. They create broad sonic landscapes, combining electronic rhythms, religious samples, and brooding synths to create music which is both emotional and detached, existential yet life affirming, intimate yet epic writing songs about humanity, loss, alienation, about sadness, about love. Performing around London for the past two years in some of the capitals most prominent underground venues, they have supported amongst other, Ritualz and Empathy test on recent tours. Their music has been performed on BBC radio London and championed by Simon Raymonde of the Cocteau Twins. E Y E S H A D O W S released their first EP earlier this year entitled ‘EP 1’ on Dagger Forest.
Arresting visuals. Beginning with a lingering shot of a boot on a gagged human face, the narrative captures your attention through exceptional, brutal visual storytelling until its climax where the air is knocked out of your stomach. Watch it. (qx)

WINNIE THE POOF

‘im a boy yr a girl im a girl yr a boy’

WINNIE THE POOF is “art” “rock” – a disection of reality .It’s not pronounced ‘poof’ as in an effeminate male but with an accent like the object people put their feet on. There’s no relationship implied to the A.A.Milne bear character. Winnie the Poof is the performance vehicle for artist LR in collaboration with artist Richard Torry. Other artists join in when they feel useful and happy to. They are welcome. Winnie the Poof has nothing to do with good or bad black white etc. It’s an aesthetic quest, taking cues from pop art, cubism, abjectivism and Arte Povera but clearly working toward their own definition of house music — not sure if its up yr street ? – the poof is in the pudding.
